Pearls of the Christian Blogosphere #5

2008 April 23

My newest Pearl of the Christian Blogosphere has achieved what I set out to do and have so far failed miserably: to create a pastors collaborative blog. Aussie pastors just don’t blog.  Some may read blogs, but even less are prepared to put fingers to keyboard and nail their thoughts down.

Furthermore, Aussie pastors just don’t seem to want to do the whole iron-sharpens-iron thang.  When I get rich I’ll fund myself to do a doctorate on why this ennui is prevalent amongst the antipodean clerical class.

Until then, I shall live in envy of…..

Pearl #5, The Mayberry Driven Church.

According to their own description:

MDC is a creation of two pastors, Dennis Laing and Randy Paredes, long time friends who found themselves transplanted from a huge urban setting to a small town and a small church. It’s about ministry in a small setting; the good, bad and ugly.

The contributors are drawn from a wide perspective, and to prove the quality of this site they even have an Australian!  So to you lot, even if for the fact that you have succeeded marvellously at something I have failed in miserably, goes the 5th bestowal of Pearl of the Christian Blogosphere.

You don’t have to be rich to do a research MPhil or a research PhD.
They are free through any Australian university.
    Give it a try.
    Also..have you checked out http://bunswbaptistpastorsforum.blogspot.com/
Ed, the Editor remains nameless, although I have commented there under my own name often and had him post various stuff.
They have the same trouble with generating conversation, and when they do by posting something controversial.. they are whaled upon by the Emergents as slanderers. it makes it difficult to have a conversation about any theological issue, and tease out the ideas and thoughts of our collective minds.

    g’day Steve
Yes I have checked that out but it reads more like an independent Baptist site, a little too conservative for my tastes, and not a lot of posts. You are right about the comments. Maybe its another 10 years before Baptist pastors/leaders discover the Net and discover a voice and dialogue with each other.
I think its easier to just book yourself into the next Rick Warren seminar rather than do the iron sharpens iron thang with your peers.
